ASU Mid-South Manufacturing Day

October 21, 2019

ASU Mid-South is holding its Manufacturing Day event on October 24, a joint initiative of our Machining, Mechatronics, and Welding programs. This follows a proclamation made by West Memphis Mayor Marco McClendon at MidSouth’s request, identifying October 4 as Manufacturing Day (in line with National Manufacturing Day) and October as Manufacturing Month. The event is open to the public, business community, school districts, and to our own students, faculty, and staff.

This will be an exciting day for all. There will be an opportunity to learn a lot about manufacturing. MidSouth’s partners will be hosting information/display tables, with some having demonstration stations. The American Welding Society mobile lab will be here with several virtual welding stations for hands-on engagement of guests. The AWS will be giving away a $1,000 scholarship to the individual who earns the best score in a virtual welding competition. The AWS and other vendors will be giving away various prizes. There will be food trucks and complimentary pizza for guests, along with giveaways such as t-shirts and koozies. AMS manufacturing programs will be represented as well.
